Jason Statham
Jason Statham was born on September 12th, 1972 in London, England. He is the son of a lounge singer and a dress maker who later became a dancer.
Later he moved to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and mastered the art of street theatre. Jason played football in grammar school but his real desire was diving. Jason finished 12th in the World Championships in 1992. He was a member of Britain’s National Diving Squad for 12 years. He is also an expert of martial art kickboxing.
Jason was spotted by a talent agent that specialized in athletes training at London’s Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. Soon after, Jason started modeling for Tommy Hilfiger.
Jason got his first big break when he was cast as Bacon in Guy Ritchie’s film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrel’s (1998). Enjoying his work in the film so much, Guy Ritchie cast him in his next movie Snatch (2000) which also starred Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro. Also in 2000, he starred alongside Ja Rule in Turn It Up. In 2001, Jason co-starred in the Science fiction film Ghosts of Mars and with Jet Li in The One.
2002 brought Jason Statham more into the mainstream when he starred as Frank Martin in The Transporter and as Handsome Rob in the remake of The Italian Job. Due to the success of the first films, Jason has done the following sequels: The Transporter 2 (2005), The Transporter 3 (2008) and Crank 2-High Voltage ( 2008).
In 2008, Jason also starred in the remake of Death Race 2000. The new version called Death Race also starred Tyrese Gibson, David Carradine and Ian McShane. This movie went on to gross almost 75 million dollars. 2009, Jason starred in Truth In 24 as the narrator, 13, co-starring with Mickey Rourke and The Expendables which he teamed up with Jet Li again. 2010 looks also to be a busy year for Jason. He will be in Blitz, The Mechanic and Pretty, Baby, Machine, starring alongside Mickey Rourke once again.
Jason Statham ended a 7 year relationship with model Kelly Brook in 2004 and is still unmarried.
